McDonald's Commercial

In this advert it starts off with a birds eye view shot of a family in a car. This is connected to the atmosphere of McDonald's as it is a family friendly fast food restaurant and appeals too most families that want a fast meal. All ages are welcomed including young children. There are close up shots that show the facial expressions of the children and adults present in the ad.

Their facial expressions are happy and excited. This shows the audience that people enjoy McDonald's especially children. The close up shot of the employee at McDonald's shows that he is happy, this may link to the friendly environment at McDonald's and that he enjoys his job there.

The song that plays throughout the advert is sung by children and they repeat the words 'such a happy place' which indicates too the audience that they feel happy when they are at McDonalds. This media technique was used to draw more customers with children and this led McDonald's to be one of the largest fast food restaurant's. Another quote from the song is 'this is our happy place' this makes the audience feel like  everyone is welcomed at McDonald's and that they enjoy themselves there.

There are close up shots of the food that McDonald's produces, this shows importance as it is showing customers the quality of the food and that it is fast to order. That means the children will be happy and enjoy their meal.

Neale states that the film and it’s genre is defined by two things: How much is conforms to its genre’s individual conventions and stereotypes. A film must match the genre’s conventions to be identified as part of that genre. How much a film subverts the genre’s conventions and stereotypes. The film must subvert convention enough to be considered unique and not just a clone of an existing film. Indie sub-culture is heavily influenced by iconography which revolves around the natural world and vintage culture, and a lot of music videos that fit into the indie genre focus themselves around natural spaces and areas. The indie fashions which are featured in the music video are also reinforced in motive by the overall look of the video, which has a somewhat vintage feel. This is due to the effects used on the video which make it appear also aged due to warmer colour balance used on the clips. Video also relates to the idea of the male gaze, which was proposed by Laura Mulvey. The male gaze is a concept of second-wave feminism in which the camera (and subsequently, the viewer) are put into the perspective of a heterosexual man, thus allowing fo...
